Little eddie

There were more than a few people… this little guy chief among them… who didn't want to hear the news that Eddie House was traded.

There's been a lot of talk about what Eddie isn't… which is fine.  It's not entirely wrong.

But let's,  for a moment, thank Eddie for what he is.

When the Celtics won the title, it was Eddie who rose above all the searching for a back-up point guard to help put the Celtics bench over the top.  It was Eddie who hit the shot in Game 4 that gave the Celtics the lead after that epic comeback in LA.

But we know all that stuff.  We know Eddie had the role of sharpshooter on this team and he filled it well.  When he was asked to do more, he did it without complaint.  He did it to the best of his ability.  And he did it with maximum effort.

Isn't that all we ever really want out of an athlete?

So thanks, Eddie House.  You helped Boston celebrate a championship.  You're forever part of the legend…. and deservedly so.

Ain’t it the truth. Thank you Eddie House!!!

  • Put everything he had into every second he had on the court and in preparation. Always smiling, always positive, great example of a good teammate.
    We’ll miss ya Eddie.

Eddie was a class act and a joy to watch him shoot. His release is lightening quick and along with his hustle will be missed. Eddie and TA still have the play of the year with the TA steal/Eddie wrap around save outta bounds/to Tony posterizing dunk. All of Celtics Nation will miss seeing you in green. Thank you House-money…

We might see him again, who knows. (He’s a FA this summer.)
And one day, maybe Eddie and Leon and KG and Ray and Paul will meet again… with Lewis and Len and DJ and all the others… to toast the once and always great team for which they all played.
