Source: Pierce May Have Broken Left Foot

Via David Aldridge:

Already reeling from a spate of injuries to key players, the Boston
Celtics may have lost All-Star forward Paul Pierce for a significant
period of time to a broken left foot, according to a league source.

The team does not know for
sure if Pierce's foot is broken after X-rays taken Tuesday; more tests
are scheduled. But it "looks that way," the league source said.

Celtics are hopeful that even if the foot is broken that Pierce won't
be out of the lineup for long. But they are not yet certain of that.

suffered the injury in the first half of Boston's 99-88 victory over
Washington Monday night when he got tangled up with the Wizards' Caron
Butler going for a loose ball. He said after the game that he thought
he sprained the ankle but didn't believe the injury was serious.

Let's all say it together now: What the F—-!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's an update via Comcast:

Danny Ainge says the team doesn't yet know the extent of the foot
injury, which Pierce suffered in Monday night's game at Washington.

just don't know," the Celts' general manager told Comcast SportsNet's
Gary Tanguay. "We basically don't know the extent of the injury. The
doctors don't have all the information to make the decision.

"We expect to make an announcement tomorrow."

Not knowing the extent of the injury cannot be considered positive news.

This seasons over if its a broken foot. Might as well pack it in and start prepping for the future. What the fuck man!!!!

  • FSantos33

Yup, 3 year plan is over. 1 title in 3 years isn’t bad I enjoyed the run. Players just fell like dominos with injuries this year. Nothing we can do about it except hope that Danny Ainge will make smart decisions for the future. Dammit!! FAAAAAK!

Ainge lets BLOW it up!! Lets see what we can get rid of and plan for next year. Put KG on the shelf for the rest of the year and trade Allen. Play Walker, Giddens, the rest of the way and hope they turn out to be usable for next year.

  • This is absurd. first of all Giddens just had knee surgery, secondly thats just stupid, play walker and giddens and sit garnett? lmao
cmon .. look for trades to keep you competetive not play trash..
If this is serious, gotta look for traded to rebuild around rondo and make moves to put a younger superstar with rondo, plain n simple they cant win without pierce and with a haggard KG

Does anybody know how long it generally takes to return from a broken foot?

  • depends on what part of the foot and how serious it is of course, there have been cases where its made players miss an entire season as recently as travis outlaw…but nothing has even been confirmed

  • Jason

Just sit him, let TA get some burn, give Daniels more minutes when he returns. Nothing to blow up. Stay calm. Three months till the games that really matter. It’s not ideal, but there’s time for the team to come together still. Let everyone write the C’s off.
Btw, no foul called on a play that broke someone’s foot. Score another for the worst officials in organized sports. (Yes, even worse than soccer referees.)

Without Pierce, a slumping Allen and a injured KG we wont make it past the first round. I said play the young guys, rest KG and trade Allen to get ready for next year. I would not mind bringing Ray back next year for less since he is willing to sign for less. But it pains me to see them struggle against teams like the Wiz.

  • Shawn-cvd

…Peirce will be back in April…or so I hope…Ray’s got to show us something night in and night out. I think a trade will be harder to make now b/c other teams can now be stubborn to deal as they’ll know we are somewhat desperate. Please Ainge and Doc don’t rush back Marquis should PP be officially down. He must not be rushed and chance re injuring his hand.

  • Shawn-cvd

It looks like TA will be getting some starts going forward. So much for the Ray as 6th man experiment…SIGH

  • Celtsfan33

HOLY EF-ING SHIT!!!! Are you kidding me??

  • Leo

As a Laker fan, and a fan of the NBA in general, I’m hoping this is not season ending.

  • Bas Rutten Jr.

    Aw, what the fuck…

This cannot be as serious as everyone is making it out to be. He came back and played in the game. Remember a hairline fracture is considered a broken foot. I expect it to be not as severe as assumed. He will probably miss a month. Everyone Calm Down!!

  • JD

Agreed, nobody is going to play after a serious foot break.

  • Joseph

HAHAHAHA. I love it, you guys are already jumping off the Celtic (Suckdic) bandwagon. “it’s over, it’s over, whah!!!” For years I’ve been calling Boston fans bandwagon fans, and this proves my point.
I HATE THE SUCKDICS, but have at least a little f’n pride!

  • Lakerhater (FD)

This sucks but wait to worry. Allstar break is almost here, if its not serious he’ll be fine on the backside of that. Marquise should be back by then as well. We were on our way to being a 3 seed anyway so this might just a short term set back…..or we’re f*cked, but either way wait to worry.

  • ssshady35 aka ANGRY TURK

Hey you little retard, did your mother let you use the computer again. I don’t see any body jumping off the band wagon, we are only stating the facts. Our best players are not 100% and we are planning on getting healthier and stronger as a team. But since your fresh out your mothers CU^! it will take you s while to figure this out.

  • Lakerhater (FD)

Yeah. Like your mother. She blew Brian Scalabrine and she’s f’n proud of it!
    F*ckin troll
