Your Morning Dump… Where Scal is at least being guarded

Scal shooting
morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here…
highlighting the big storyline.  Because there's nothing quite as
satisfying as a good morning dump.

“The biggest thing I can do on the offensive end is just be a threat,”
added Scalabrine, who made all three of his treys Monday. “Until they
start leaving me wide open, I’m at least helping to space the floor for
other people. If they start leaving me, then that becomes a real
problem. But they’re guarding me, and that helps other people.”

Herald: Brian Scalabrine gives best shot

I'll just repeat something that I've said in the past:  Scal does not suck.  Sorry if you think he does.  He's not a guy who deserves 20 minutes a night… but he understands the game of basketball and he can step in and not destroy the team's rhythm.  It's nice to see him start hitting some shots, because that's what everyone points to when determining whether you're good or not… even though there is a lot more to the game.

Coming up, Page 2… Where Rondo explains the art of passing

No Formula for the No-Look: Rondo has a way of baffling his defenders by making the pass they least expected.

“Maybe just practice, try [no-look passes] every once in a while. But
not now. You try to be solid and not make the home run pass, but it’s
just natural for me. I don’t really try to do it to get the oohs and
the ahhs. It’s the play I feel I need to make at the time. I may not be
able to make the simple pass and it has to be the trickery bounce pass
or the no-look pass to confuse the defense.”

Jessica Camerato: Inside the Game: Rajon Rondo and the art of passing

I'll just quote Mike Gorman on Rajon Rondo:  "This kid is special."

There isn't a single player in the league that plays like Rajon Rondo.  He's a unique talent.

That Rondo WEEI article isn’t very useful for folks looking for tips about how to improve their passing game. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, but it’s all about natural instincts for Rondo.

I can’t stand the mocking of Scal. He is a good solid role player. He is not your high School waterboy that is getting his chance in the game.

  • It’s like asking Mozart for piano tips…. he’s way too good to be able to explain it to people like us. Sometimes the “I just do it” explanation is all you need to know that what he’s doing….. is something you and I will never be able to do.

  • Danno

I really can’t either stand the Scal chants either. The guy busts his ass harder when he’s on the court than anyone.
There’s really only one reason people mock Scal
: He’s the lone white guy at the end of the bench on the Celtics in what has become a predominantly black sports league, and this town really is still full of racist townie morons who go to the games from all the white flight suburbs on the North and South Shore like Quincy, Weymouth, Braintree Saugus, Everett, Revere, etc.

It’s not just that he’s white… he’s VERY white, and overweight, and looks a lot like Jackie Moon. I agree – the man works hard and usually plays well – does his job. Vs. Atlanta, he was arguably the most efficient, best player on the court (excluding Rondo, always).

ALL u guys are fucking retards, the dude is the WORST player in the league, how he has a job is beyond me, must be the luck of the fat smelly and disgusting Irish I hope Scal dies
