As he and the Wizards warmed up before their game against the Philadelphia 76ers at Wachovia Center, the players circled Arenas, who pointed his index fingers at them as if they were guns.

The image was caught on camera, and the photo — of Arenas' fingers
cocked, a grin on his face and on the faces of the other Wizards around
him — was plastered all over the Internet by halftime. Afterward, he
and the players acknowledged that they were doing a take-off on a
touchdown celebration from the movie
Any Given Sunday, in which a player sprayed his teammates with pretend gunfire as they all fell back in a circle.

"They asked me to do it,'' Arenas said.

After meeting with reporters after the game, Arenas appeared to show
remorse on Twitter. "I know everybody seen the pre game pics..my
teammate thought to break the tention we should do that..but this is
gettn way to much," he wrote, adding a few minutes later, "I wanna say sorry if I pissed any body off by us havin fun…I'm sorry for anything u need to blame for for right now."

Hey David Stern – please suspend this moron for the remainder of the season before he embarrasses your league any further.

We are all tired of his antics.

Never liked this fraud of a basketball player, hes a glorified chucker, with the worst contract in the NBA, and little to no basketball intelligence, and clearly none in the real world either

I don’t see how the NBA didn’t suspend him the moment this all came to light. Regardless of police investigations, he still brought guns into the arena. And the League is acting like that’s no big deal, almost commonplace. I have no respect for David Stern.

I suspect the only reason he hasn’t been suspended is because the Wizards are 11-21 and Gil being gone will hurt the team more.
Its messed up cause Arenas obviously doesn’t take it serious.

It’s clearly not a problem between him and his teammates, which to me shows that this is a common practice in the league. Maybe not showing off guns in the locker room but I am sure many do own guns and I don’t blame them. If they are registered and legal to own then there is nothing wrong with owning guns. People need to relax and get over this, he wasn’t shooting anybody the guys is trying to make light of the situation and if he was a real threat to anybody I am sure his teammates wouldn’t be in a circle laughing about it. He should and will be suspended but people are really way to uptight about this situation, yes he got caught but I am sure many of the celtics players own and carry guns as well, but just arent stupid enough to brandish them in the locker room

What a clown!! Keep it up Gilbert more gun dancing. Baahahahaha

Wish Stern would hurry up and do whatever he’s going to do to Arenas. Sick of hearing about it

NBA commissioner suspends Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas indefinitely, citing possession of firearms at arena.

He has been suspended indefinitely pending the completion of the investigation.
“Although it is clear that the actions of Mr. Arenas will ultimately result in a substantial suspension, and perhaps worse, his ongoing conduct has led me to conclude that he is not currently fit to take the court in an NBA game,” commissioner David Stern said in a statement Wednesday. “Accordingly, I am suspending Mr. Arenas indefinitely, without pay, effective immediately pending the completion of the investigation by the NBA.”

You know, as much as i dislike Arenas and think he acted completely idiotic, I agree with you about the guns thing. If he could legally have them – why care. But I’m sure there are laws and NBA regulations limiting his ability to have them at the arena (as has been shown) but still, don’t damn a man to hell for owning guns (something legal) damn him for acting irresponsible with them, although I don’t remember as much outrage when one of our players last year did something far more dangerous – drove drunk. That is far more of a ‘loaded gun’ and dangerous than a, well, unloaded gun.

Of course you can legally own guns, dummy…But it doesn’t mean you can take them onto an airplane.
