Celtics Waive Lester Hudson

Via Boston.com:

In a rather shocking move, the Celtics
waived guard Lester Hudson just before the deadline that the team had
to guarantee his contract for the rest of the season, Hudson
participated in the team's shootaround this morning and I talked to him
about his contract and he had no idea whether his deal was guaranteed
or whether he would be waived.

"I let my agent handle all of that," he said this morning.

If Hudson clears waivers, the Celtics could sign him to a 10-day
contract. The Celtics brought Hudson to Miami, had him participate in
shootaround only to release him in the afternoon. The NBA can be brutal
at times.

Hudson, a second-round pick, played in 16 games and averaged 1.4
points. He played 12 minutes in Saturday's win over Toronto and scored
five points.

Is this a pure money move or are the Celtics on the verge of pulling off a deal? Rafer Alston???

while alston would bring an immediate lift, the potential on hudson is through the roof (imo) not sure its worth the tradeoff but lets see what happens

Celtics better be on the verge of pulling off a move. I like Hudson he has lots of potential really sad to see him go. The way they released him was fucked up.

Wtf, that was so fucked up the way they released him…
I don’t know if letting Lester go was a good move. Hopefully Alston is coming or else this was just plain stupid.

    Ty Lue

No way can I believe that they would bring in Alston. No D, and too too weird.
Maybe Lue. Or some other game they’re playing. Too bad, I really like the kid… hope he finds success somewhere, if not here.

Lester Hudson is one of only 9 guys to ever get a quadruple double (including 4 NBA players). That says to me that the kid has some talent.

Agreed. He had a lot of upside. Hopefully he’ll clear waivers and we can keep him around.
Be interesting to see if it was just maintenance and cash or if there really is something cooking.
Maybe Rondo’s hammy, PP’s knee, and ‘Quis thumb all hitting at once got mgmt a bit anxious about backups for smalls and felt Hudson wasn’t ready for the big time in a pinch.
