Oh crap. KG’s knee is acting up again…

Chuck - Red's Army December 30, 2009 Uncategorized 5 Comments

UPDATE via Steve Bulpett of the Herald:

Garnett missed one game last week with a right thigh bruise, and he got
kicked in the same leg in Monday’s loss to Golden State. Though these
latest issues are in the same area, trainer Ed Lacerte said, through
the team, that this current situation is not related to the problems
that caused Garnett to get surgery on the right knee this past
offseason.

Kevin Garnett is questionable for tonight's game against Phoenix:

"If I do decide to sit him (Garnett), I'm not sitting him for one game. I can tell you that," Rivers said. "I told Kevin that."
Rivers
doesn't have a definitive timetable for when Garnett would return if he
sits him tonight, although he said it would likely be around Jan. 6
when the C's play at Miami, or possibly longer.

Garnett has not
been moving as well as Rivers would like, which is why Rivers' decision
is more of a preventive, big-picture step to avoid a repeat of last
season when Garnett missed the final 25 games of the season as well as
the playoffs.

"It's early in the season," Rivers said. "We got
tonight and we got two days, and then we got three days after that. To
me, if you're going to rest guys, this is the perfect time to do it."

Rivers added, "I don't know if I'm going to do that. But right now I can tell you that I'm leaning that way heavily."

Great. Just great. It's not even mid-season and we're already worried about resting guys?

Rondo is also questionable for tonight's game because of a sore right hamstring.

Holy Shit just Great… so the following players could be all out tonight.
KG, Pierce, BBD, Daniels, and Rondo. Very nice
Projected Starters tonight: House, Ray, Perkins, Sheed, TA
Bench: Walker, Giddens, Hudson, and Scal
It’s going to get very UGLY… on the positive I guess this will force Doc to finally give the young guys some playing time.

I’m just going to say it now before the game starts:
Doc has a history of not playing young guys until an injury forces his hand. Let’s just see if that happens tonight.

It will happen tonight. Doc doesn’t have many options.

Maybe he’ll play but if he sits, he’ll sit multiple games? Does that make sense AT ALL? If he’s bad enough to consider sitting multiple games how could he be at all good enough to play tonight?

RedsArmy: The title “Oh Crap: His knee is acting up again” is completely untrue. Show me one part in any article where it says anything about his knee? In fact it say via Ed Lacerte that it has NOTHING to do with his knee. Am I missing something?
