Wiz Get Rondo’d!!!

Rajon Rondo (21 points, 10-20, FG, 11 assists) put on quite a show tonight in Washington. The exclamation point came with 26 seconds one minute left when Rondo flushed down a fabulous dunk off a baseline drive to give the Celtics a 100-98 lead. The Cs held for the 104-102 win.

The Celtics seized control of this game in the 2nd quarter where they outscored the Wizards 37-22. Rondo hit Garnett with a couple of lob passes for dunks. The Celtics were shooting upwards of 60% at this point in the game. The Wizards had 0 rebounds in the quarter. Zero.

The Wizards climbed back into this game, thanks to good shooting. They finished at 48% for the game. At one point, they were 50% from 3, before missing their final six from beyond the arc. Andray Blatche (17 points) was a thorn for the Cs.

Ray Allen (18 points, 5-11 FG) scored his 20,000th career point on a 3-pointer in the 3rd quarter.

Tony Allen had 8 points (4-5 FG) in 17 minutes. We kept tabs on his play in the live blog and tallied 7 good plays vs 3 bad plays. A successful night for TA.

we nearly lost this game because of Doc. why he sat Ray, KG, and Perk in the fourth for so long is beyond me.
I’m not a TA fan, but a pretty decent game for his second day back. 8 pts, 3 rbs, and 2 stl. not bad. of course there was also 3 PFs and 3 TOs. but you take what you can get from him.

  • consistent theme….rondo is our best player
yes, others get the glory because of there scoring on certain nights aka KG…But this kid creates so many oppurtunies for his teammates and has consitently taking over in the 4th quarter.

Say what you will about free throw shooting and his jumpshots, but Rondo has become CLUTCH, and that is HUGE for this team.

Tony Allen … actually played pretty well tonight? How did that happen.
He had some turnovers (of course) but he also shot 4-5 from the field, played mostly good D, did a nice job on the boards (2 offensive boards!), and generally did a number of little things right.
    Don’t tease us, Tony.

I’m not surprised TA played well tonight, he’s always had the ability to. I just want to see him do it 4 or 5 games in a row. Until then though, this is just par for the course.
Congrats Ray-Ray! Happy to see him achieve this milestone.

Looks like Ray’s taking up Quis’ slack… he was in 39 minutes and looked pretty beat by the end. Hey Doc, give Hudson a couple of minutes here and there, willya?
KG now has the #4 best FG% in the league for a non-center (after Carl Landry, Chris Paul and Amar’e Stoudemire) – shooting at exactly 56%. And of course, that includes all the terrible games he had up front. Just a few more games, and he should be the #1 shooting non-center around. Pretty cool for an old geezer. I like our geezers… I think they’re gonna show the young punks what’s what this year. 🙂
