Perk drive

Every
morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here…
highlighting the big storyline.  Because there's nothing quite as
satisfying a good morning dump.

“No question,” Parish said of Perkins’ growth. “I’m very pleased to
see how much work he’s put into the offensive end. The big difference
is that his teammates are showing more confidence in him. Now he’s more
decisive about what he’s gonna do. Now he’s making moves with a real
purpose.”

Parish loves to watch Perkins for the simple reason that the
youngster reminds him of the way the game used to be played, when big
men were paint-oriented.

“He’s definitely a throwback,” Parish said. “Back then, there would
have been a place for him, because he’s the kind of player who does
things that don’t show up on the stat sheet. But you can tell he wants
the ball now. He has a lot more confidence from his teammates.

Herald: Kendrick Perkins wows one of his Chief fans

Just more very deserved love for Perk.  We've been trying to give him love all week… and we continued last night in The 2 Man Game. Here's the show if you missed it. We start with Mike DeLeon and Jeff Garcia from ProjectSpurs.com talking about tomorrow's game…. and then we get into Perk in the second half of the show.

Perk deserves a little added attention both on and off the court.  On the court, he's going to start making coaches wonder about double teams.  And if teams start doubling on Perk, then watch for the C's offense to just go nuts.

Up next, Page 2… Where Perk responds to the love, and Doc dangles a carrot.

“I’m just doing my job,’’ Perkins said. “Guys are just finding me. A
lot of teams help off of me and I feel like I have to do a better job
of diving to the rim. I just feel like guys are finding me and I got to
make sure to try to be consistent and do something when I get the
ball.’’

"It's confidence," said Celtics coach Doc Rivers."We're getting him the
ball. We're getting him the ball in his spot. We keep telling him if
he's the best pick-setter, he'll get the ball in the post and he's
doing that. He's setting great picks."

I love that from Doc.  "Yeah… you set good picks, we'll throw you the ball.  Don't set good picks… and no soup for you."

Go get 'em Perk.  You're killing it out there… keep doing your thing.

Perk is clearly showing that he has become a better player and has worked out a few “kinks”. It all started with the arrival of KG. The D gets sucked onto KG leaving Perk open for the easy bucket. Now Perk has shown he could do it with defenders on him and not always trying to dunk every ball he gets within 8 feet of the basket. I think Perk will continue to impress for years to come.

I am surprised by perks fast growth on offense. This has to have caught a lot of people off guard. Good for perk. his work ethic and attitude are awesome
He looks smooth with the ball, this means there is hope for Sheldon Williams.
Sheldon I am surprised when he makes the bunny, like the defense and rebounding though.

Your right redsarmysoldier most of it started when when KG arrived But interestingly enough it all really came together when KG was out with the injury the last half of the year last season, thats when the confidence in his offensive game was showed by him & his teamates.

  • Danno

KG helped him with confidence, but the man responsible for his game play mechanics and better repertoire of post moves is Clifford Ray.
Celtics need to lock up Perk for the Rest of his career. Best Center in the league at his price.

  • The Truth is Here

Call me crazy, but I think he is almost as good as Dwight Howard. He is not as strong, but has a smoother shot, and is just as good on defense. Dwight’s offense is still very raw whereas Perk has shown great progress over the past couple of years.
