Magic admits what we already knew about the Dream Team

RedsArmyAdmin October 22, 2009 Uncategorized 7 Comments

The original (and some would say "only") Dream Team had every great player of its day on the roster…

… except for 1.

Isiah Thomas.

And for years, we heard the stories about Zeke being frozen out.  I personally had never seen confirmation of this… until now.
Dreamteam

Magic
also admits that he joined with Michael Jordan and other players in
blackballing Thomas from the 1992 Olympic Dream Team, saying, "Isiah
killed his own chances when it came to the Olympics. Nobody on that
team wanted to play with him. … Michael didn't want to play with him.
Scottie [Pippen] wanted no part of him. Bird wasn't pushing for him.
Karl Malone didn't want him. Who was saying, 'We need this guy?'
Nobody.''

So Isiah's boy Magic sold him out.  The article makes it clear that they'v had a falling out… but still.  It's Magic telling the world that Zeke was such a huge douche, that the best players of that era wanted nothing to do with him.

Yeah…Isiah started to question Magic about his sexuality after the HIV revelation. Nice friend, huh?

And how are you only hearing about this now? I posted it last week? Some friend you are, you don’t even read all my posts.

You know, I never really paid alot of attention to Isaiah when he played. Sure, he was a great point guard, but he never really “drew me in” like some of the other greats (Kenny Anderson, JKidd, Stockton). I can’t remember many of his “moments of douchiness” as a player (that could also be due to heavy weed use in my teens), but apparently his colleagues do.

Stockton was the better fit anyway. With some of the all-time best scorers on the OG Dream Team, having the all-time assists leader was a must.
So, REAL b-ball in 5 days? NICE! I’m looking forward to this season as much as the original KG season. With the additions of Wallace and Daniels, plus keeping BBD and Hudson showing promise, I think were deeper than we were with PoZ and PJ. Let the HEALTH fairy be kind to us this year.

Chuck’s just pissed that I’m too good for him now.

That’s ironic given the fact there’s been lots of rumors regarding Isiah’s sexual proclivities. When I first heard about this book, I thought Magic had “outed” Isiah.
