Return of My Favorite Play

Here's a highlight from the first quarter: Kevin Garnett with the spin, catch and dunk off the feed from Rajon Rondo. Damn, it's nice to see these two completing this play again.

Yes, that's my kid squealing in the background.

The Celtics rolled over Toronto 106-90. Garnett finished with 16 points (8-13 FG), 6 rebounds and 2 blocks in 22 minutes. From the looks of the box score, Lester Hudson (12 points, 5-7 FG) had his best game of the preseason.

I missed most of the second half, so feel free to provide some analysis in the comments section. Some photos from the game, after the jump.

d-up and take care of the ball..most teams struggle to fill a starting 5..its scary think this team has 3 complete units..i can’t wait for la!!

    – Hudson looked ready for the backup-PG job tonight. By all reports, he’s a Doc fav too. Looks like a great nugget pickup for Danny.
    – All systems were go tonight, except for Ray, who remains way off his game and looking for the breakout. Hopefully soon.
    – Prediction: If they can’t trade TA, he gets cut, Cs eat his salary, and they sign Sweetney instead for a min deal with a weight clause. The guy can play.

  • Agree with DrJ. TA must go. I don’t have anything against him, he just doesn’t fit anymore. How about Bosh-20 points and a dominant 1st half, then 1 point total for the rest of the game..?? Baby continues to impress me with his hustle and taking it to the hole strong. Lester also looks great. Marquis still looks a bit like he’s trying to find his way, but I have no worries-he will be fine.

Ahhhh, that’s what I’ve been waiting for. Quick glance to Rondo, quick backdoor spin move and finish with a 2 hand slam. I’d like to see him get a little higher, but he does look a little bigger and another year older, not to mention the knee. But ill take it.
Great news on Lester, I hope he can fill the 5-10 minute backup PG role, with House and Daniels spelling Rondo too.
Can we trade TA and his expiring contract for a 2nd round draft pick?

I had the same thought about TA and Sweetney watching last night… if it were just a matter of keeping the 15 players most likely to help the team this year regardless of contractual situation, it would have to be Sweetney. Especially since Giddens got a clue somewhere along the way and is fine as a backup backup swingman.

  • Marshall: “Don’t let the big body fool you, Sweetney has game” Seriously, dude can play.
Hudson was impressive, very comfortable and confident and went to his left hand in the 4th.
Like DRJ said Ray Ray hasn’t zoned in yet, ‘Quis is still finding it, and most everyone else looked great.

The reason I think the Sweetney over TA is unlikely is the role played by guys that far down the bench. TA’s forte is defense, which is what Doc loves. Sweetney’s is big guy offense, which we suddenly have a lot of. Not that I wouldn’t love to see it happen.
I keep clicking that video between :03 and :05 over an over, it’s a beautiful thing. Your kid doesn’t sound that excited by it though, not a Raptors fan is he?
