2006-07 Celtics Were Bad, But Not The Worst

Chuck - Red's Army September 2, 2009 Uncategorized 16 Comments

Kelly Dwyer of Ball Don't Lie ranks the 10 worst teams of the past ten years, and fortunately for us, the 2006-07 Celtics did not make the cut.

For those don't remember, that Celtics team:

  • finished 24-58
  • lost a franchise record 18 straight games
  • had Gerald Green, Allen Ray, Michael Olowokandi play major time
  • had Paul Pierce play just 47 games
  • won just 12 games at home
  • heard the home crowd chant "Fire Doc"

How times have changed….

Is Doc Rivers now the best coach in the NBA?
    Very possibly.

  • Paddy

    Def not.

    I still don’t like Doc’s coaching :)

That was also the last year I was able to buy $30 tickets 2 hours before the game on ticketmaster.
And does any1 else remember this site from the 2007 season? Man times really have changed. Can’t believe that was only two years ago.

Were we still in that parquet background looking thing back then? That was forever ago.

Yeah… that parquet was the background…. That background was awesome…. Also the photo-shopping was excellent back in the day.

Yeah… I’ve gotten away from a lot of the photoshopping. That’s more a
matter of my life has changed and I don’t have as much time to dedicate to
    stuff like that.

Did you notice those “Celtic” fans were wearing Laker jerseys? Or do you think maybe they were Laker fans at that game?

Operation Oden or Destination Durant anyone?

Who should start Telfair or Rondo??????????

  • http://profile.typepad.com/6p01156f5d5d11970c Tim (FD)

I’d have to go with Delonte lol.

Strangely enough, 06-07 was the year I became a bigtime fan of the Celtics. I guess I loved watching the young guys develop, particularly Big Al, Gerald, and my current favorite player, Rondo.

  • Lee in Oregon

Painful year. I remember Tommy kept saying “give the ball to Gerald!”. I was never so pissed at Danny as when he traded the pick for Telfair, who looked completely lost with the Blazers. I admit, I loved Delonte & Ryan Gomes & Big Al….but nobody has ever won a championship with a bunch of kids.
By the way, Doc has done a great job developing young guys, and out-coached the Zen Master in 08. An excellent coach.
    Is Gerald still unsigned?

  • Bas Rutten Jr.

Despite their record, like JD, I loved this team.
I had season tix in the nosebleeds; back wall (any seats we wanted) in section 311.
It’s amazing, but Boston was a lot less green that year.

  • celdicks

nope he isn’t the best coach, but u all also chanted mvp for kobe, don’t forget that one ;)
