Pruitt is being waived

After spending two seasons with the Celtics, point
guard Gabe Pruitt will be waived by the team tonight, according to a
league source.

    The Celtics had until
tomorrow to pick up the option on the final year of his contract worth
approximately $900,000, but declined. Pruitt, a highly skilled point
guard from USC, never managed to crack Doc Rivers’ rotation – in part
because the C’s coach often questioned Pruitt’s aggressiveness.

I think he's good enough to get a camp invite somewhere.  I've said it before… but I think Gabe has a lot of skills.  He's never used them all at the same time, which has been a problem.  And he may never figure out how to use them all.  But if he does, he'll be a good player.

So are we getting Mad Man Marbury, or is Lester the savior?

  • Bas Rutten Jr.

Please, Lester. Please, please, please, Lester.

Starbury rising… If we don’t make a move, or he for some reason refuses the veteran’s minimum, his NBA career might be over. Personally I think he would be the right choice for a back-up PG. With training camp, having time to get used to our system, he will definitely step up his game. Remember he came at the end of the season after being inactive for quite some time.

I say we should try to get Delonte back.

Props for the picture leading this post. One of the funniest things I have seen since that Asian dude jumped out of the trunk in The Hangover.

That was pretty funny. That dude is in everything nowadays.

I’m not too surprised and I won’t lose any sleep over it, but I do think that Gabe can put it together in the right situation. Boston wasn’t the right situation for him, with the minimal room for mistakes and minimal opportunity to play, but he has some talent. He’s a big, athletic combo guard with a decent shooting stroke, defensive ability, and good length. He just needs a chance to play, and that obviously wasn’t going to happen here.
Someone will pick him up. This is definitely a “you aint gotta go home, but you gotta get the hell up outta here” situations.
I am curious about who this spot was opened up for, though. Steph? Hudson? Both? Someone else?
And yes, that picture = greatness.

what do you think about bruce bowen (also waived) as a target for the celtics?
continue stockpiling the league’s most hated players and solve the issue of defensive stopper on the wing all in one move…
i’d love to see him in green getting under people’s skin

my fellow leprachauns. i come to you now in a time of desperate measures. As you all know the baller that is Lamar “the candyman” odom has resigned with the World Champion Lakers. They have also added the defensive mastermind and nut Ron-Ron who will surely shut down our beloved Pierce. Kobe will be more fired up than ever finally taking his first summer off in 2 years. What shall we do? Rasheed is not enough!

    You’re being sarcastic, right?
Otherwise, no one on this website would be dumb enough to consider you a fellow C’s fan.

We shall pray for good health, cuz that’s all it will take for the Celts to humiliate the Fakers again.

there is more press about the lakers dumping SUN YUe(not woody allen’s wife)who never played for them than the end of the gravy train for gabe pruitt who never played for the Cs.if you got game you got a check.NBA teams are not paying kids to figure it out anymore.15 min. a game spots are going to vets with reps on one year deals.

Looks like backup PG by committee. House, Daniels and Hudson. One thin Hudson brings that Pruitt did not is strong rebounding which is a bonus at that position.
Maybe he can play better D already and cannot shoot any worse at this point
Not sure we need Bowen, but another big for insurance for injuries needed. We have to look at the roster and see if we have enough to cover inevitable injuries at all spots
