Growing Up Baby

RedsArmyAdmin May 11, 2009 Uncategorized 16 Comments

It's Big Baby day today.  A couple of people sent me this ESPN story today, and for good reason.  It's a pretty emotional look at Glen Davis' childhood, how it shaped him, and how it made him fall in love with basketball.

After watching it, how can you not love this guy.  I want to lock him up for 10 years now.  Danny, get it done.

    Nice video!
    …but…
is it just my imagination or Baby has a pretty bad strabism problem?

With about 12 seconds left in the video when he is jumping up and down, am I the only one who thinks he looks like he a fat 12 year old? haha
But watching that video makes me have more respect for him considering the mother he had, but he’s no Shaq thats for sure.

I just wrote an article about the Celtics.

Not exactly a “raging animal”. Good kid, good man.

Donny Marshall was saying in the postgame the other day that he didn’t think the Celtics would re-sign Baby (arguing that if they won’t shell out for Posey, they won’t for anyone). Hope he’s as right about that as he was about the Raptors challenging the C’s for the Atlantic Division.

who do the magic think theyre kidding, saying that theyre more professional, because we celebrated a game winning shot in the playoffs?
Um, they dont remember confetti falling from there rafters and dancing around like buffons when they beat us at the buzzer last year in a meaningless regular season game? they dont remember doing the same thing last round? huh? hey magic, youre dumb

“Glen Davis then ran down the court with a cocky look on his face, while pushing down a little kid in the front row on the way.”
    1) You make it sound like he went up to the kid and pushed him and it was far from the picture you paint. He was sandwiched in between the ref and the kid and clipped the kid on incidental contact. That’s what happens when you’re a fan with your back to the court and you’re 3 inches from the sideline. If Big Baby barreled into the kid as bitter fans keep claiming, how come no one else was touched? Oh, because the kid was hovering over the line while everyone else steered clear.
    2) Cocky look on his face? I guess he should have walked away emotionless and sat on his hands on the bench after winning the game for his team evening up the series 2-2 as opposed to being in a 1-3 hole.
I guess as long as you’re a Boston athlete, you’re actions and reactions will never be suitable for the classy police.
    Anywaysss
If that wasn’t a “raging animal” in that video…I don’t know what is. I mean..soft-spoken!? articulate!? forgiving!? wanting to make people happy!? What a “lunatic!?!?!”

I think he’s wrong too…Big Baby loves this ride, and loves Doc. He’s making no $ comparatively right now. They could easily double his salary, quadruple his salary with little affect. And no matter what he does in this post, he’s done a lot less in the regular season, and I can’t see another team giving Posey dollars right now nor making him a consistent starter. Plus, I think he’s enjoying building a life in MA. I think he’ll be here for a bit! He’ll need to be a consistent starter for the C’s before he can demand the $’s to leave.

http://www.thebasketBOREacle.com would be more appropriate. Don’t oracles tell the future? Your contender analysis was just a synopsis of every playoff game the Celtics played and then you boiled it back down to “no Garnett, no win.” Fantastic analysis. Also, why was Pierce’s pass to Baby “risky”? Because it was Big Baby, not Ray Allen? He was wide open and the pass wasn’t difficult to make so I really don’t get it.
“He’s no Shaq.” More great insight. Why am I even responding to this crap? I would post this on your own website but I don’t want your ploy to have readers of this site start an argument on yours to work.

“Glen Davis then ran down the court with a cocky look on his face, while pushing down a little kid in the front row on the way.”
You take things way to seriously. I can’t believe you actually thought I was serious about that. Of course he should have a cocky look on his face and I thought it was funny that he pushed the kid.

  • http://www.thebasketballoracle.wordpress.com Ubershorty

    “www.thebasketBOREacle.com” Wow good one…(sarcasm)
Just like the last guy, you take everything too seriously. I hope all Boston fans aren’t that serious. And it wasn’t an analysis as much as it was a prediction/giving a summary of what has happened so far. Its just a title, nothing to get angry about.

    Hi Ubershorty,
I am a nice one, and my reaction was the same…analysis??? Summary. I’d like to see you succeed…keep it fresh! But then I wonder, your readers are likely not C fans, so perhaps it is. I can’t quite tell.

I love Glen Davis, really. I love that hes a celtic.
I also loved to watch him play in college, I remember that march madness tournament as vividly as any in recent years, big baby and ty thomas…fun team

hes no shaq….if he was 7 feet, he would probably be better

  • NineSevenEight

This is the internet, there’s no face-to-face interaction. I’m supposed to ASSUME that you weren’t serious? There was no sarcasm preceding it so I took what I read at face value, but that was my mistake. If you don’t want your opinion to be construed as “serious” in your posts, it’s your job as a blogger to convey it as such.
