Doc Doesn’t Know What Rest Means

Last Monday, Doc had this to say about keeping the Big 3 fresh:

“Even if I play a Billy (Walker) and a Gabe (Pruitt) and we’re struggling with them in, I’ve got to sit and take it because I can’t burn Paul and Ray out. That’s going to be a tough one."

Apparently Doc can't "sit and take it." Paul Pierce played nearly the entire game (47 minutes, 42 seconds) against the Pistons. Bill Walker and J.R. Giddens played 38 seconds – combined.

This reckless coaching behavior will come back to bite us in the ass in the playoffs. I guarantee it.

I don’t care what anyone says about rest we need to win every game possible. Homecourt advantage is huge this year with the way the Cavs have been playing. Mark my word we don’t get hamoe court we don’t win playoffs Period!

Doc reminds me of KC Jones… when he often overused Bird, Parish and DJ…

It reaaly gets frustrating. Pierce would have not of said anything earlier if he was not breaking down. I remember the 80’s when Bird and McHale started to break down from too much wear and tear. The regular season is important, but not as much as being healthy in the post season. And you are right, it is just ten minutes. I doubt walker is going to make any more mistakes than TA would have in the same situation.

Yeah, Doc definitely needs to find a way to get PP some rest.
Here’s a link to the story behind the Rondo-Maxwell “argument” Apparently, they really were just joking around, about a card game.

  • I think you have a point, but at the same time, KG is out. I see Doc’s reasoning for wanting at least one big gun on the floor at all times, but he also needs to make sure he puts forth a true effort to rest them. He needs let some other guys burn minutes while the top dogs preserve some of their energy for when they really need it. We don’t need it against the Pacers on February 29 or the Pistons on March 1. We need it in April, May, and hopefully June.
I hope Doc manages the minutes wisely from here on out.

Wouldn’t mind losing if it meant Pierce got some rest…
