Was Marbury Lying?

RedsArmyAdmin January 26, 2009 Uncategorized 7 Comments on Was Marbury Lying?

The Herald makes it sound like he was.

Knick guard Stephon Marbury told the New York Post that he has a verbal commitment from the Celtics on a contract should he get free from his deal in New York. However, a source close to the situation said today there has been absolutely no such guarantee from the Celts.

The source went on to say the two sides have spoken (the Knicks gave Marbury permission to talk with other clubs) and that the Celts would definitely like to add him under the right circumstances.

Celtic director of basketball operations Danny Ainge had no comment on the Marbury situation, but the club is not prepared to give him major playing time.

That's it Danny.  No comment… no committment.  Don't let that idiot hang a tampering charge on us because he can't shut his yap.

at first, i was interested. but now, i just want it to go away. even if he does opt-out, we should not sign him. he’s already having a negative impact on our team and hes not even on it! dont do it danny.

    Damage control.
Everyone make up your mind…you want him then you don’t. All along I say do it. Please get Marbury, it’s only going to bring good.

I don’t necessarily think it will be good, but if we get him on the cheap then its a low risk/high reward situation.
He just needs to shut the fuck up.

I can’t believe you people all passing on Marbury. Honestly, all star talent at the PG position coming off the bench? For next to nothing? and there is no risk because we could just cut him if it did not work out?
Come on guys, don’t be stupid, the guy has everyone in the world to prove wrong, he is a great athlete and a great PG. The reason he has caused all these problems with other teams is because he held all the cards, the huge salary and teams that truly needed him. We sign him for cheap and if it doesn’t work we release him? How the hell can you say no to that talent for next to nothing? It makes me so mad to see all these people saying oh hes a cancer this and that can’t play D… Was Ray known as a defensive player when he came here? Was Paul? People adjust when they want to win, and marbury at this point in his career just wants to win. GET HIM!!
