Max Effort

RedsArmyAdmin May 27, 2008 Uncategorized 10 Comments

Make no mistake about it, the Pistons manhandled the Celtics. They put forth one fierce defensive effort. Despite shooting 31% and getting horrendous performances from the Big 2 and Ray Allen (I will no longer consider him an equal to Pierce and Garnett), the C's trailed by only 5 with four minutes left in the game. But the Celtics could not solve the Pistons defense down the stretch.

-For some reason I cannot figure out, the Celtics continue to leave Antonio McDyess (21 pts, 16 reb) open.

-Jason Maxiell (14 pts, 6-6 FG) was a beast. Just ask KG who had this breakaway dunk attempt swatted off the backboard.

-How's this for ugly? Pierce, Garnett and Allen shot a combined 11-38.

-But wait, it gets worse. Check out the stats from the point guard position. Rajon Rondo – 4 pts, 4 asst in 30 minutes; Sam Cassell - 0 pts, 0 asst in 17 minutes.

-Had the Celtics brought anything but their absolute worst performance, they could have stolen this one. Even the refs helped out; the Celtics shot 39 free throws.

    hey reds ouch….

  • bigmck

ouch is what the Spurs did to the Lakers the other night.

easily the most frustrating game of the season..i can’t even argue with ajay..let him say what he wants
ugly game of basketball at the palace tonight…but again..when it mattered the pistons outplayed the celtics
    must win in game 5

  • Tim (FD)

John Karalis checking in on WEEI after the game. Good call. I heard you make the point about the first play of games 3 and 4. I thought to myself: “wow, I’ve heard that before tonight,” and then I recognized your voice.

We did not even deserve to lose by 19 we should of lost by double that. Even though we played like shit in the last 2 min of the game we were only down by 6 points. If one of the big three were on we would of won this game but they were not and the bench did not help either so the out come was obvious. Good luck in game 5 C’s!!

Yeah… that was me… frustrated as all hell calling in from the car.
Garnett totally didn’t show tonight. Might be the most frustrating aspect of this game.

    shouldve played eddie house
and where the f is leon powe
doc has possibly had the easiest matchups in the playoffs in terms of coaching (how flip saunders, mike brown, and mike woodson coaches in the nba is beyond me)

  • The Bad Boys

detroit gets the job done when it matters, another example tonight. ya’ll would have been celebrating a 3-1 edge by the greens, detroit on the verge of elimination in the garden in game 5. instead, ya’ll have another loss to deal with. what is concerning is the greens had 39 fts, so much help from the refs and still couldnt come through. btw, its now time for official predictions: this series is a yawner

  • I bleed green in L.A.

I learing to expect this from Ray, BUT NOT KEVIN. The Celts were close at some points, but were never really in the game-we can actually thank the refs for that.
The team watches film of game 3 and 4, and comes home to win game 5. Looks like another 7 game nailbiter.

Hey Bad Boy- The C’s play like absolute sh*t and you couldn’t put them away until 1:30 left in the fourth. I’m not worried about the C’s players, as usual Doc F*cking up overshadows any mistakes the boys made on the floor. Doc even looked like Sh*t trying to pick up on Michelle Tafoya after the 1st qtr. Get some game Doc. Your starting to remind me more and more of Isiah.
